Are you entitled to 15 hours or 30 hours of funded childcare?

All 3- and 4-year-olds are entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare, starting from the term after their 3rd birthday.  You do not need to do anything.

The additional 15 hours (30 hours) and 15 hours funding for 2-year-olds are available to families where both parents are working or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family, and each parent earns on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage (NMW) or national living wage (NLW), and less than £100,000 per year.

Parents do not need to work 16 hours a week, but rather their earnings must reflect at least 16 hours of work at NMW or NLW.  This includes those parents on zero-hour contracts who meet the criteria.  You can check eligibility and apply online at:

www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

There is also provision to support families where one parent is in receipt of benefits relating to caring responsibilities or a disability and the other parent is working.

You can find details of how you will be able to apply at:

www.childcare-support.tax.service.gov.uk

Parents who are receiving some form of government support may be eligible for funded Early Education for 2-year-olds (FEET).  If you are eligible, this is available the term after they turn 2.  To enquire, please visit:
